The Oakville Federal Liberal Association (OFLA) had an active summer. Oakville Liberals attended the annual Multicultural Picnic in Oakville on June 24th. Oakville MP John Oliver and other Halton-area Liberal MPs were also in attendance at the picnic that celebrates diversity in our community.
Canada Day celebrations in Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park, marking the 149th birthday of our country, initially saw rainy weather but the sun shone through later in the day. Oakville families visited the association’s red-and-white tent, and children snacked on popcorn and received pretty balloons.
On July 15th, Oakville residents made their way to the town’s downtown core to celebrate Midnight Madness. OFLA members served popcorn and handed out balloons to passersby on what was a lovely summer evening. It was also an opportunity for our MP to speak with citizens in Oakville. John Oliver also endured the dunk tank to raise money for mental health services in Oakville.
OFLA members assisted their MP with canvassing activities in early July to get feedback from the community on topics of interest.
On August 16th, the OFLA held an evening barbecue where 100-plus Oakville Liberals feasted on delicious food, engaged in lively conversation, and listened to live music! Our MP had a chance to meet with Oakville residents at the barbecue.
Stay tuned for information about upcoming OFLA activities in fall 2016!
